In Memory of John Schoenthaler
Born on April 18, 1967, in Bakersfield, California. His family spent eleven years living in Nigeria, Norway, and London before moving to Mandeville, Louisiana where John attended St. Paul’s in Covington graduating in 1985. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Louisiana State University in 1989 after spending a year on scholarship at Exeter University in England. He then received a Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU in 1993.
As an attorney he worked in New Jersey in immigration law and in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for 17 years at the U.S. Small Business Administration. Last year John moved to Marietta, Georgia with a new job and to be closer to his brother and his family.
John enjoyed his many friends, listening to music, playing video games, practicing yoga, and was well read. He had an encyclopedic knowledge about pop culture, especially movies and music. In his younger years he collected comic books and had an extensive collection. He loved to travel, having visited Europe, Colombia, Nicaragua, Thailand, Cambodia, and Canada several times.
John is survived by his parents, John and Suzanne Schoenthaler of Addison, Texas; and brother Peter Frederick Schoenthaler, sister-in law Shannon Davis Schoenthaler, and their children Emma, Lakin, Lyon, and Eli of Marietta, GA. Also surviving is Collin Clark, son of Peter Schoenthaler.
